KeyDate

Terms of Use

Last updated: 4 August 2026
The short version. KeyDate is an educational planning tool, not a financial advisor, lender, or brokerage. Our numbers are estimates — verify anything important with a licensed professional before you make a decision. Be decent in the community.

1. What KeyDate is — and isn’t

KeyDate helps you plan and track savings toward a first home in Canada, and explains programs like the FHSA and Home Buyers’ Plan in plain language. KeyDate is not a financial advisor, mortgage broker, real-estate agent, lender, or tax professional, and nothing in the app is financial, legal, mortgage, real-estate, or tax advice. No advisor–client relationship is created by using it.

2. Estimates, not guarantees

Your “keys date”, affordability figures, qualification checks, market prices, and rent-vs-buy comparisons are illustrative estimates produced from the information you enter and from assumptions we disclose in the app (for example, assumed rates of home-price growth, investment return, and interest). They are not predictions, appraisals, pre-approvals, or offers of credit. Real outcomes depend on your circumstances, lender criteria, and market conditions, and will differ. Do not rely on KeyDate as the sole basis for a financial decision.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use KeyDate.

4. Your account

You’re responsible for activity under your account and for the accuracy of the information you enter. Don’t impersonate anyone or use another person’s account.

5. Community rules

The community is for sharing genuine first-home experiences. Don’t post:

You keep ownership of what you post, and grant us a licence to display and distribute it within the service. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. Community posts are personal opinions from other users — not vetted by us and not advice.

6. Bank connections

Where offered, connecting a financial account is optional and provides read-only balance information through a third-party aggregation provider. KeyDate cannot move, withdraw, or transfer money. You can disconnect at any time.

7. Beta software

KeyDate is in active development and provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn, and data may occasionally be lost. Keep your own records of anything important.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KeyDate is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for any financial decision you make in reliance on the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these terms; we’ll change the date above and flag material changes in the app. You may stop using KeyDate and delete your account at any time.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.
